A dog adopted by a tragic soldier in Afghanistan is helping improve conditions for the animals she left behind in her war-torn homeland.

Peg was the constant companion of Private Conrad Lewis, from Claverdon, near Henley-in-Arden, before the 22-year-old was killed in Helmand Province in February last year.
